Originale

An 8 part mass with orchestral accompaniment. It is not clear why it is called "annuntiate nobis". That is a phrase from the plainchant "Quem vidistis pastores", but there is no obvious imitation of that plainchant. A Benedictus is included although it was clearly added by a later arranger, plagiarised from the Christe Eleison. Spanish masses from this period often seem to omit the Benedictus. the same applies to, for instance, Francisco Valls' Missa Scala Aretina, Missa Primi Toni and Missa Quarti Toni. If the Benedictus is to be performed as part of this mass it might be more authentic to use one of Torres' 3 part settings. One of these is included on CPDL. In the prosody, the syllables in the words "te-rra" and "to-llis" are split thus, no doubt because until very recently double r and double l were treated as letters in their own right in Spanish, the double r being rolled and the double l pronounced as "y" or "ly".
