The CONCERTO FOR TRUMPET AND BAND employs both the trumpet and the flugelhorn, the latter only in the initial and final slow movements. This is a cyclic composition, the first theme returns with precise rhythmic changes as main theme of the second and the third movement. This concerto has been composed in 1960 and dedicated to Richard Tolley and Robert Mayes, both collegues of Mary-Jeanne, and who performed the concerto so many times.
