The chart was recorded live at the Village Vanguard that year. Two years later the Thad Jones. Mel Lewis Orchestra went into the studio to record tracks for a Blue Note album titled Central Park North. The melody is based around a 14-bar chord progression that repeats throughout the arrangement. The chart features an open piano solo and a fantastic shout section that lasts for 3 choruses. This is one of Thad's greatest arrangements.
