This is a practical version of the ancient Office of Vespers, as developed by Abbot Alan Rees at Belmont Abbey over the past 30 years. Music for Evening Prayer provides music, readings and prayers for the entire year. The melodies are modally based and easy for any group or congregation to sing, with a simple organ accompaniment, sufficient to sustain the pitch. In his Foreword Abbot Alan writes, 'I pray that this publication will help the faithful to participate in the Evening Prayer of the Church, so that "attuning our minds to our voices". Rule of St Benedict. we may give fitting praise and worship to God.'.
