Using the familiar tones and melodies of the chanted Litany of the Saints, Tony Alonso offers a creative re-imagining of this piece of ritual music. The chant melody is metered and given a simple but dignified harmony. Once the assembly is comfortable with their response, add the choral ostinato Ora pro nobis ("Pray for us") underneath. Though intended for the Easter Vigil, this setting of the litany would make a marvelous entrance for the feast of All Saints as well.
