A fine pianist and guitarist, Radames Gnattali (1906-1988) was at the peak of his compositional powers when he wrote these studies in 1967. Focusing on a particular technical configuration, each study is dedicated to the guitarist friend who inspired it. According to guitarist Rael Rabello, Gnattali "played everything he wrote - only a little slower." With two of these pieces in dropped-D tuning and a third is in an altered tuning (CGDGBD), these studies are best suited to the advanced guitarist.
