You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.The second part of Schubert’s Fantasy in C Major, D. 934, contains a theme and variations based on Schubert’s memorable song ’Sei mir gegrüsst!’ (I Greet You!, D. 741) This section is the lyrical and emotional high point of the entire work. Following the song/theme, Schubert presents four variations – each one progressively more intricate and passionate. Then, a developmental reprise of the introductory tremolo section serves as a transition to the exhilarating finale (Part 3.)
This cental section contains many optional repeats. I suggest performers follow only the first of these repeats – as I do in the MIDI performance realized with Scorch. Normally, the entire Fantasy takes about 21-22 minutes to perform – that is, without any repeats. If one were to take all of the repeats that Schubert has indicated, the total performance time would be increased to about 27-28 minutes.
