He's actually saying "Rags," not "Red," although "Red" makes more sense. I have no idea what the hell "Rags" means. I got the lyrics from the biography of Kiss.

I still have the sheet music from the 70s! It is definitely Dm (minor). Also the chorus goes F Am Dm (Am instead of Em). And technically you left out the | F G | after "you ain't a hard luck woman" but that is pretty obvious to add when playing.
